While I love my DS, I'm just shocked at it's ridiculous ability to outsell everyone. I suppose with ramping costs of everything, the DS seems like an easy investment for kids. Getting me and my bros a NES/Genesis/SNES was 100-200, while the newest system nowadays = Wii at 250 or X360 at 400 or PS3 at 600.
I guess given a huge and very very strong DS game library, a cheap, no-batteries-required portable gaming-system with cheap games -- yah parents will love it and kids won't mind taking it since the Wii is sold out and x360 and ps3 are sold out.
I read that ps2 dominated this quarter in games sales (and did pretty damn well in hardware sales too), thanks to God Of War 2, one of the only games in recent history (besides GoW1) that I actually beat (and fairly quickly too). I suppose if i wasn't a big gamer and had a ps2 for years already, getting a ps2 now for less than 100 with its HUGE library of A+ games at $20 (thank you Greatest-Hits), yah I wouldn't mind getting one.
