Rock Band - The Strokes "Reptilia"

Rock Band song list
When the concept for Rock Band released, I was sure I'd just be a guitar and drum guy (no singing). While I wouldn't mind singing, I wouldn't quite look forward to it. Now looking at this song list, man I can't wait to rock some of them out. One true thing about karaoke - rock songs sound terrible in midi/techno format. With potentially 3 people creating the rocking sounds of Reptilia, Enter Sandman, or Blitzkrieg Bop, I can totally look forward to playing it. I guess I just need to wait until it gets announced for the Wii.
I might get it for PS2, but with no online on the PS2, I'm not sure if it's worth it. I think I'd get it for the Wii -- i'll get Guitar Hero 3 for Wii (plus one guitar) then get Rock Band (it isn't even officially announced yet, but they've said its coming) with the 3 other pieces for the full 4 piece set.

Persuaded by American Commercials

I don't watch too many commercials - watching videos on the computer or recorded episodes on DVR tends to alter your life in that way. However, I believe I have been swayed by a commercial for a beauty product. I know - sounds a bit feminine. Never fear - the cool awesomeness of it shall soon be revealed.
The commercial is for a Nivea face gel. We are treated to a young male professional sporting an afternoon stubble as he throws on his coat to leave for the day. This is a concept I enjoy - and any QLF people would know what I'm talking about. The concept of loosening the tie after a long's day of work followed by leaving the fucking office for anything else. Already I'm knee-deep into this commercial, and I haven't even seen the product.
As he enters the elevator to leave the corporate jungle, he splashes Nivea for Men Energizing Hydro Gel on his face. This is no spray-splash. This is a manly "this has been one long fucking day and I'm so glad I'm leaving" face rub. He proceeds to go bowling, karaoke, and of course - the late-night meal.
Here are the reasons I love the late-night meal:
- It's always at a diner, and diner food feels great after a long night out
- Everyone's fucking tired, but are running in adrenaline or their alcohol buzz
- There's always something to talk about since we just came from a party or a club
- There's no rush since it's already like 3am
The guy in the commercial though - he's a mad stud. He obviously realizes he's been out so late that it's time to go back into work. Another note: he went out that late knowing he'd have to go to work the next day - also very manly. He throws his jacket back on - goes to the office and splashes some more Nivea for Men Energizing Hydro Gel.
If only I got paid for this post...
A Hitman or a Smelly Gas?

My boss and I attended a meeting with a client on Monday and a large portion of it had me just listening, taking notes, and nodding. I did jump in with a couple of comments and corrections and I felt I had performed well at the meeting.
After returning to the office to discuss the fallout of the meeting, I was complimented on my actions at the meeting. He commented on them saying that I was "silent but deadly." I think he meant it as a hitman - one who professionally does exactly what is needed without making any extraneous noise/sounds. However, it must be known that that 3-word phrase is also a commonly known description for powerful, sneaky, soundless farts.
If only my performance in any situation could be summed up in similar parallel descriptions.
An Important Conversation

Apparently I relish dissecting movie sequels - with the summer of three-quels here (along with the summer of the invention of the word three-quel), Romes and I naturally began a discussion about how some series retain charm and life to some extent (how many superman or batman movies have their been?) and others seem to wane (matrix, pirates). Kate even told me that she only likes the first Pirates now. I felt that serial movie sequels only seem to do well when they are all made knowing the other episodes exist (LOTR, Star Wars). Supposedly Pirates and Matrix were "originally designed" to be three parts - if so why did you make the first parts way more awesome than the other two?
I felt that comic adaptations did fairly well as series because a hero will have more and more adventures, while the hero doesn't have to necessarily change. Peter Parker's troubles in Spider-man 1 and 2 do add character and flavor to the movie; but it wouldn't be necessary information when you watch Spider-man 3.
In our conversation, Romes does believe that as the series goes on, there are some continuity - of course, I ask him for evidence to support his claim and here's what happened:
Romes: like things that have happened to the hero/main char are more pertinent in the sequels
Me: example
Romes: you know what i lost all examples as soon as i typed out that sentence
Romes: and the rest of that train of thought just derailed
Me: haha
Me: DERAILED
Me: sorry
Romes: so my argument is null and void
Romes: haha
Me: the romes express has been derailed
Me: casualties: rome's argument
Me: we're saddened by the loss, only to realize brian remains awesome
Romes: {shakes head}

KG goes to Celtics

So finally the KG wait can end. I just hope Kobe finally makes a decision, and not purely based on the lack of time or offers. I hope he stays with the Lakers since Fisher came back. So much for KG and Kobe, but that was not realistic anyways.
All of a sudden, Celtics are a prime contender - Paul Pierce is definitely a team-maker, but now combined with newly acquired 7-time all star Ray Allen and 2004 MVP KG, they are going to speak volumes come next season. This trio is being hailed as the next Big Three, a reference to the title-winning trio of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish.
