Author recants after bashing Mass Effect

Ahh digg - where would I be without you? Theoretically, I'd be sleeping.

Lawrence recants Mass Effect Judgement

From a couple of posts ago, I got all fired up about the whole bashing of Mass Effect. Granted I didn't play the game yet, but I feel that I was just. Now I'm not a big fan of internet attacks - they mimic mob mentality and what makes mob mentality so vicious is the anonymity that singular people are granted, something the internet does all too well - I'm glad that whatever happened caused Lawrence to get a little more educated about what she's an "expert" about. Apparently some of her reviews on amazon.com got filled with attacks from the internet community. I suppose if I were her, it would be simplest just to apologize rather than be black-booked by the internet (so to speak). For authors, I suppose those amazon.com reviews can really hurt your sales.

Just a couple of things...

Maybe next year Chargers...

I had a great time watching football this season (even though it's not officially over, it's over in my heart in terms of rooting for a team). I'll remember their overtime victory over Tennessee, the amazing interceptions by Cromartie (including the unbeatable 109 field-goal miss run-back TD), them defeating the Colts twice - one awesome regular season game and a post season game riddle with penalties and bullshit calls - all to lose against the Patriots in the post season. Thank you for not choking this year - I promise I'll see you next year in person.

Happy 4th bday Bozasm.com!

First post here is in March 2004, but I know this website, and I first received the domain as a present from Edgar for my birthday in 2003. I have since experimented with linking bozasm.com to my livejournal blog, then followed by a brief wordpress set up, to finally keeping the blogger blog in place.

With 318 posts in 4 years, that's 80 posts a year, and just over 6 posts a month. I know that there have been sections of active posting, and sections of slow posting. In honesty, I've been posting exactly every 5 day for 3 years to keep my 6 posts/month average. EXACTLY.

Debate over Mass Effect's nudity dubbed "SE"XBOX

Man oh man oh MAN I can't believe how angry I am. This video contains a debate between a psychologist and a video game reviewer over the explicit adult content included in Mass Effect, an critically acclaimed RPG for the xbox 360. The debate is short, and Mass Effect is lambasted for it's nudity. The news team then discusses how evil it is after the short debate is cut off.

Granted - this is an age where the previous generation has very little exposure to the myriad of games that are out there and what is involved. But damn, it's like this is fucking HOT COFFEE all over again.

I can see parents getting angry over Bully, Manhunt, and Grand Theft Auto - the premise of those games are primarily being bad! Here is the premise of mass effect:

"Mass Effect" will deliver an immersive, story-driven gameplay experience presented in a cinematic style with high production values, extraordinary levels of visual fidelity, incredible exploration and realistic digital actors. Players assume the role of an elite human Spectre agent, Commander Shepard, entrusted with keeping law and order in the galaxy. As they discover and explore the uncharted edges of the galaxy, they come closer to an overwhelming truth — learning that the placid and serene universe they know is about to come to a violent end and that they are the only being who can stop it.

He keeps law and order in the galaxy! Then a game with relatively less hype than Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, and the other big brand games is getting tossed around as some evil presence - "My dad's video game" as described by the reporters here.

Yes - there is a sex scene in Mass Effect and you can tout it as being a bad influence on your kids. But seriously - there are much larger enemies in this world if you believe that. seriously!

And how the reporters just dished on it at the end like "I won't allow anything like that into my house" -- man it really killed me.

For those that didn't really care for the pro-video-game rant above, please appreciate the following photograph:
